Early in December 2018, Rapper Soulja
Boy appeared out of nowhere and
announced the release of his own brand
of video game consoles, which turned out
to really just be rebranded emulators
from Anbernic.

It wasn't bad enough that he was selling
rebranding emulators, but the rapper was
also claiming that these consoles had
thousands of older Capcom, Nintendo
and PS Vita roms installed and ready to
play. He even announced Super Smash Bros
Ultimate, released 12/07/2018, was
available on for the Souljagame.

Amid the threats of reporting his consoles
to Nintendo, Soulja Boy took to Twitter
to defend his new brand and lashed out at
critics, saying they “don't wanna see a black
man make money,” and “Nintendo ain't gon
do SHIT.”

Nintendo’s legal team, which has been cracking down on rom sites to protect its intellectual property, sent a letter to
the rapper, which stated that if he is in violation of the Trademark Counterfeiting Act, he could face substantial prison time

On December 29th, all of Soulja Boy's consoles were pulled from his online store.

The only comment the rapper made on the
topic was a single tweet, “I had to boss up,
I didn't have a choice.”

In less than a month, Soulja Boy's hopes of
a video game empire vanished and
Nintendo is probably going to collect
one heck of a paycheck.
